Evgeny Merman is a multimedia artist, curator, and educator. Born in Kyiv, Ukraine and currently based in Tel Aviv.
He studied at T. G. Shevchenko State Art High School (Fine Art Department) and later at the School of Visual Arts (SVA) in New York, focusing on media art. After time in the United States, Canada, and Hong Kong, Merman returned to Israel, developing a practice across video, installation, and painting.
Solo exhibitions include Tel Aviv, Jerusalem, Europe, and Asia, alongside international group shows. His work is held in collections such as the Jerusalem Municipality, MuseumLV Grata in Riga, the Museum and Centre of Contemporary Art in Canton Ticino, Switzerland, and the Hong Kong Holocaust and Tolerance Centre (HKHTC).
Emerging during Israel’s video art moment in the late 1990s, Merman was awarded 1st Prize at the 33rd Kyoto Art Biennale in 2019.
